Transporting dense materials such as broken concrete sidewalks, masonry brick, and fill dirt across North Carolina highways requires strict adherence to Department of Transportation (NCDOT) gross vehicle weight ratings.

1. The 10-Yard Rule for Dense Inert Debris

Because clean concrete weighs approximately 4,000 lbs (2 tons) per cubic yard, a large 30-yard container filled with concrete would weigh nearly 60 tons—far exceeding the legal highway transport limits. For this reason, all heavy inert masonry, asphalt, and dirt jobs are strictly assigned to our reinforced low-profile 10-yard containers.
